Important: PayPal approval, checkout availability, purchase limits and exact terms can vary. This page estimates the schedule from the selected mode and user inputs; it is not a financing offer.

What this PayPal credit and repayment calculator covers

Pay in 4 / Pay in 3 / 4X

Splits a purchase into equal payments. Where PayPal publishes a purchase range, the calculator checks it and warns if the amount is outside that range.

Pay after 30 days

Models Germany’s deferred-payment product as one payment 30 days after checkout, without using APR amortization.

Pay Monthly / installment credit

Uses the APR/TAE/TAEG you enter plus local term options to estimate monthly payment, total interest, and total paid.

Credit card payoff

Manual payoff mode lets you enter a card balance, APR, and monthly payment. It helps with repayment math, but it is not an official PayPal offer.

Quick examples by amount

These examples show schedule math only. They are not approval quotes. The calculator checks the selected country/product range and warns when the amount is outside the published range.

Country-specific Pay Later coverage

US Pay in 4 and Pay Monthly

US Pay in 4 is modeled as four 0% payments for purchases in the published $30–$1,500 range. Pay Monthly uses the APR you enter and supports 3, 6, 12 or 24 monthly payments for larger purchases.

Canada and Australia Pay in 4

Canada uses a $30–$1,500 CAD Pay in 4 range. Australia is modeled as eligible purchases under A$2,000, with the first payment at checkout and then every two weeks.

UK Pay in 3

UK Pay in 3 is modeled as three interest-free payments: one at checkout and two monthly payments. The online Pay in 3 page shows £30–£2,000, while another PayPal UK Pay Later page may show £20–£3,000. Checkout is the final source for eligibility and range.

Germany Pay after 30 days and Ratenzahlung

Germany has a one-payment deferred mode and monthly Ratenzahlung. PayPal currently shows APR examples of 11.49% for 3/6/12 months and 12.49% for 24 months; promotional in-store Ratenzahlung To Go offers may differ.

France, Spain and Italy

France uses Paiement en 4X. Spain and Italy include both 3-payment interest-free modes and 6/12/24 monthly installment-credit modes where the APR/TAE/TAEG must be entered by the user.

Brazil and Mexico merchant installments

Brazil and Mexico modes show buyer payment splits and merchant-side extra-fee estimates. These seller fees are not buyer APR; Mexico 4x and 24-month options are marked as Citibanamex-only where PayPal lists that restriction.

PayPal Credit / PayPal Credit Card context

This page includes manual credit-card payoff math because many people want to compare balances, APR, and monthly payments. It is not a PayPal Credit, PayPal Credit Card, or PayPal Cashback Mastercard quote.

For US shoppers, PayPal describes PayPal Credit Card / PayPal Credit digital line special financing on purchases of $149+ subject to approval and terms. Use the actual APR, minimum payment and promotional terms shown in your PayPal/Synchrony account or checkout if you want to model that balance.

Currency conversion warning for Pay Later

Automatic Pay Later modes are locked to the local plan currency in this calculator. If a checkout is priced in another currency, PayPal may convert the transaction into the local Pay Later currency before offering the plan, and currency conversion charges may apply. The exact converted amount should be checked inside PayPal checkout.

Formulas used

Pay in 4 / Pay in 3 / 4X: payment = purchase amount / number of payments; APR is treated as 0%.

Pay after 30 days: one deferred payment due 30 days after checkout.

Monthly credit: monthly rate = APR / 12.

monthly payment = principal × monthly rate / (1 − (1 + monthly rate)^(-months)).

Credit card payoff: each month adds balance × monthly rate, then subtracts the monthly payment you enter until the balance reaches zero.

Local installments: buyer payment = purchase amount / installments; seller extra fee = purchase amount × seller extra fee %.

Pay in 4, Pay in 3, Paiement en 4X, and Pay after 30 days do not use the APR amortization formula. APR appears only in monthly credit and manual credit-card payoff modes.

Country and product policy

The calculator shows only Pay Later products that are implemented for the selected country. Unsupported country/mode combinations are not converted into a US or UK assumption.

Source notes

PayPal uses different Pay Later products in different countries. Pay in 4, Pay in 3, Paiement en 4X, Pay after 30 days, Pay Monthly, and local installments are kept separate. Interest-free and deferred modes do not use APR math; APR appears only where the product needs a rate.

  • United States: Pay in 4 and Pay Monthly modes.
  • Canada and Australia: Pay in 4 mode.
  • United Kingdom: Pay in 3 mode; the online Pay in 3 page states £30–£2,000, while another PayPal UK Pay Later page may show £20–£3,000. Checkout is the final source.
  • Germany: Pay after 30 days and PayPal Ratenzahlung. Consumer Pay Later pages list 1 €–3,000 € for Pay after 30 days; some merchant/developer references may show 1 €–2,000 €, so checkout remains final. PayPal currently shows APR examples of 11.49% for 3/6/12 months and 12.49% for 24 months. In Germany Ratenzahlung mode, the calculator auto-fills those APR examples by term, but the APR field remains editable; promotional in-store Ratenzahlung To Go offers may differ and should be checked in PayPal.
  • France: Paiement en 4X.
  • Spain and Italy: 3-payment interest-free mode plus 6/12/24 monthly installment-credit mode.
  • Brazil and Mexico: local installment schedule mode with official merchant-side extra-fee estimates where PayPal publishes seller installment fees. Mexico 4x and 24-month options are marked as Citibanamex-only.
  • Credit card payoff mode is manual debt math, included to answer credit-card-payment and repayment-schedule queries without pretending it is PayPal Credit, PayPal Credit Card, PayPal Cashback Mastercard or another official PayPal financing offer. Currency conversion may apply if PayPal converts a checkout into the local Pay Later currency.

FAQ

Is this an official PayPal credit offer?

No. It estimates a repayment schedule from the amount, product mode, and APR when needed. Approval, limits, APR, currency conversion, and final terms come from PayPal checkout.

Why does Pay in 4 show 0% APR?

Pay in 4 is treated as an interest-free four-payment schedule in this calculator. The APR formula is intentionally not used for Pay in 4.

Why does APR appear only in some modes?

APR is used only for monthly credit or manual credit-card payoff math. Pay in 4, Pay in 3, Paiement en 4X, and Pay after 30 days are handled as non-amortized schedules here.

Which countries and products are included?

The page currently includes US, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Brazil, and Mexico. Each country shows the Pay Later products implemented for that market, plus manual credit-card payoff math.

Does this include PayPal seller fees?

Not general seller receiving fees. Brazil and Mexico installment modes include optional merchant-side installment extra-fee estimates because those products publish seller installment fees. Standard Goods & Services receiving fees are handled in the PayPal Fee Calculator and invoice/profit page.

Is credit card payoff mode official PayPal Credit?

No. It is a manual payoff calculator for a balance, APR and monthly payment. It does not quote PayPal Credit, PayPal Credit Card, PayPal Cashback Mastercard or any official approval result. If PayPal shows special financing on purchases of $149+ or another promotional term, enter the actual APR and payment terms from that offer.

What if checkout uses another currency?

The calculator locks automatic Pay Later products to the local plan currency. If PayPal converts another checkout currency into that local currency, the converted amount and currency conversion charges should be checked inside PayPal checkout.
