How to find the actual PayPal exchange rate

The most accurate input is the rate PayPal shows during the specific conversion. Look for the rate in PayPal checkout, Wallet, a currency conversion screen, invoice/payment flow, or the PayPal transaction details before confirming the exchange.

Then enter that PayPal rate here as target currency per 1 source currency. Example: if PayPal shows 1 USD = 0.8832 EUR, enter 0.8832 for USD to EUR. The field is blank until you provide the PayPal rate, so the comparison does not look more certain than it really is.

How the calculation works

Market converted amount = source amount × market FX rate.

PayPal converted amount = source amount × PayPal FX rate.

Conversion loss = market converted amount − PayPal converted amount.

Markup = conversion loss ÷ market converted amount.

In generic spread estimate mode, the PayPal rate is estimated as: market rate × (1 − conversion spread). The calculator does not claim a country-specific PayPal spread unless you enter your own spread value.

Sources and limits

Source notes checked: 2026-06-09. You can load a market FX rate or enter it manually. For the PayPal side, use the rate PayPal shows for your transaction. Country selection is kept for context; the calculator does not invent live country-specific PayPal spreads.
